The section of the Student Room website will give users the latest news, advice and tools for all students, including those considering going to university in 2012/13.

Student Finance England will also host a special finance surgery on its social media channels on Facebook and Twitter, answering queries from prospective and current students and their parents.

Derek Ross, director of operations at Student Finance England, said:

"Millions of students access The Student Room to chat about all aspects of student life and, this year more than ever, it's important for them to have all the information available on funding.

"We have a wide range of resources available to help students through the application process, from our online calculator which works out what funding they could get, to videos, useful guides and downloads.

"The section also gives an easy guide to our Direct Gov website, where students will apply for their finance from early 2012."
