Student Loans Company and National Union of Students search for 'Reel' talent

The Student Loans Company (SLC) and the National Union of Students (NUS) are giving students the chance to direct a series of how-to films, to win £500 Apple Gift Cards.

The Government-owned loans company and the NUS are asking students to come up with their own creative interpretation of the SLC finance videos which are produced to help millions of students through the loan application process.

The winners of the 'Get Reel' competition will have their videos featured on Directgov and You Tube ahead of the funding changes next year.

Jenifer Stirton, director of marketing and communications at the Student Loans Company, said:

"We want our videos to be really appealing to students and what better way to do it then having films made by students themselves.

"We're delighted to be working with the NUS on these important communications and look forward to seeing the results."

Pete Mercer, NUS Vice President (Welfare) said:

"This competition is a great way of helping students understand the student support that is available to them, which is so important particularly given all the changes that have taken place.

"I hope that lots of students will get involved - in so doing, not only helping other students to better understand the financial support available to them but also getting the chance to win some great prizes.

"Good luck to all those who enter!"

The 'Get Reel' competition is open to students over 16, living and studying in the UK and closes on 16 January 2012.
