The charity Stand Alone has produced guidance materials on the student finance application process to support students who are estranged from their family, and studying without the support of a family network.

These materials focus on advising students how to evidence their estrangement and independent status when applying for student finance funding. It explains sources of support available both through the charity and HEI student service resources. This guidance has been developed in consultation with the Student Loans Company.
