The National Statistics are published as Statistical First
There is one statistical series for Student Support awards (loan
rates, loan take up, grants awarded, etc) on an academic year
basis. The latest publication is for academic year 2013/14. The
publications for Wales and Northern Ireland were assessed in July
2013 and will be designated if SLC addresses the 11 requirements
identified. In the meantime they appear in the Official Statistics section.

The scope of the publication has been extended to include part
time Higher Education student support following the introduction of
loans to cover fees for part time Higher Education students in
England in academic year 2012/13. Details of the extension are
given in this
Pre-Announcement document. Due to feedback received within the
user consultation that was held between November-January 2013 we
have also introduced a Public/Alternative Provider breakdown. Now
that the Provider Type summary has been published we will compile a
breakdown for payments of Maintenance Loans, Tuition Fee Loans and
Total Grants by individual Provider (subject to appropriate minimum
student number criteria) and publish that breakdown in
supplementary tables. On 28 January 2014 we provided supplementary
tables giving a breakdown of payments by individual HE
The next release of the Student Support Awards SFR for England
is planned for November 2014.
A history of UK maintenance loan take up
rates prior to 2006/07 has been compiled from the SLC
publications that started in 2004 and from earlier Government
There is one statistical series for Student Loans debt and
repayment on a financial year basis. The latest publications are
for financial year 2012-13. The publications for
Wales and Northern Ireland have not undergone an assessment so they
appear in the Official Statistics section. For previous
publications see the archive.
The next release of the Student Loans debt and repayment SFR for
England and Scotland is planned for June 2014.
