Refund evidence

You can request a refund of loan repayment under specific circumstance:

Repaid too much?

If you’ve paid off your student loan balance but we're still awaiting the information from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), you can apply for a refund.
You’ll need to send clear photocopies of your:

  • last P60; and
  • all your current financial years payslips.

You’ll also need to give us your bank sort code and account number for payment of any refund. Send this with your Customer Reference Number to:

Student Loans Company
100 Bothwell Street
Glasgow
G2 7JD

When we process this we will advise HMRC to notify your employer to stop student loan deductions. This can take a month, which may mean that you’ll have another one or two deductions taken. Repeat the above process for a final refund.

Not due to make repayments?

If you made repayments during a financial year, but at the end of it earned under the annual repayment threshold, you can request a refund of the repayment(s) made.
You’ll need to send clear photocopies of your:

  • payslip(s) showing the deductions made; and
  • P60 for the financial year the repayments were deducted.

Evidence along with your Customer Reference Number should be sent to:

Correspondence Department
Student Loans Company
100 Bothwell Street
Glasgow
G2 7JD
