If you are moving overseas for more than three months, completing an overseas income assessment form will enable us to assess your level of repayment. You must let the Student Loans Company know before you leave the UK. We will ask for information about your earnings and provide you with a monthly repayment schedule.
If you are calling from abroad please use the telephone number +44 141 243 3660.
Download the this form will allow you to provide details of your circumstances and prospective income to the Student Loans Company:
Overseas income assessment form (136kb).
Overseas income assessment guidance notes (90kb).
The repayment threshold for residents who live in the United Kingdom is currently set at £15,000. In other words, graduates and former students with an annual salary of over £15,000 are required to repay their loans.
If you are an overseas resident, the Student Loans Company work out your monthly repayment schedule using the same principles as for those who stay in the UK. So, you will repay 9% of your earnings over the repayment threshold.
To take account of differences in living costs, the repayment threshold in a foreign country will not necessarily be the same as in the UK. We will update the thresholds each year to take account of price changes.
You may use the following table to see what your repayment threshold will be if you intend to move to another country after completing your course:-
