Right to rectification

You have a right to request that your personal data is corrected, or rectified

You have a right to have inaccurate personal data rectified, or completed if it is incomplete.  If you become aware that any of the data which we hold about you is inaccurate, you should contact us as soon as practicable. 

You can make a request for rectification verbally, in writing or online.  We are obliged to comply with any such request within one month. This may be extended to two months when the rectification request is complex. 

In certain circumstances we may refuse a request for rectification.  If we are satisfied that the personal data is accurate, we will inform you that we will not be amending the data and explain our decision.  You have the right to complain to the ICO or another supervisory authority regarding this decision, and seek to enforce your rights through a judicial remedy.  We will place a note on the system to indicate that you have challenged the accuracy of your data, and your reason for doing so.  We may also refuse to comply with a request for rectification if the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, taking into account whether the request is repetitive in nature.  If this is the case, we may:

  • request a "reasonable fee"  to deal with the request; or
  • refuse to deal with the request.

In either case we will contact you to explain this decision.

A reasonable fee will be based on the administrative costs of complying with the request.  If we decide to charge a fee, we will contact you within one month.  Once we have received the fee, we will comply with your request.

You are obliged to notify us immediately on becoming aware of any change of circumstances which require changes to be made to any of the personal data which we hold about you.
