Services we offer

SLC administers government-funded loans and grants to students throughout the United Kingdom.

We are responsible for the delivery of student support in the UK. This is done in partnership with Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, the Education Authority in Northern Ireland, Higher Education Providers and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Our primary roles are to:

  1. deliver financial support to eligible students pursuing higher education;
  2. pay to Higher Education Providers students' contributions towards tuition fees for England, Wales and Northern Ireland; and
  3. supply information needed by HMRC to ensure repayments are collected on time from all those due to repay under the Income Contingent Repayment Scheme;

We undertake specific tasks for individual Devolved Administrations such as payment of Education Maintenance Allowances. in addition, we carry out the administration and payment of bursaries and scholarships to higher education institutions throughout the UK.
